Be Still

I struggle with the “being still” part. Mostly because I’m bipolar and ADD so it’s hard to sit down and just listen.  I’m not trying to make excuses. It’s just hard to be still sometimes! Like today, for instance. My mind is currently going a million a miles a minute while I’m writing this. I have so much I want to say but I end up forgetting and writing something completely different.

Today is World Mental Health Day. As a sufferer of bipolar disorder, severe depression and anxiety, today is a special day. It’s a day to bring awareness to all mental health illnesses.  It’s a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma.

One thing I cannot stand is ignorance. So many people have no knowledge of mental health illnesses and won’t do their research. Instead, people tend to judge and make snide comments regarding a person’s mental state. And that drives me crazy! (no pun intended, lol)

But in all seriousness, people really need to educate themselves on mental health. People with mental health problems are all around us. You may even surround yourself with people who suffer.

If you know of someone who is suffering and not getting help, please try to encourage them to. It can save lives. With the proper medication and therapy, most people can live a full life. I’m on 4 different medications and sometimes we have to adjust the dosages and sometimes even change out a medication but it HELPS! And if it helps then that’s all that matters!

Okay, so I didn’t intend to write about all that, lol.

Back to my topic of “being still.” It’s hard and I struggle with it but when I DO stand still and truly listen for God, I am overcome with a sense of peace that everything will be okay with Christ on my side.

If we would just “be still and KNOW” that “He IS GOD!” things will change for the better! I truly believe that!

I do need to be honest though: Being a bipolar Christian can be exhausting.
