True Hope

Image result for romans 5 3-5In my devotions this morning, it talked on the subject of hope.

The Scripture reference was found in Romans 5:1-11.

One of my favorite verses comes from this passage

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.  (vs. 5)

We’re going to face disappointments in life. It’s inevitable. But the Lord gives us HOPE that one day we will be with Him. One day all of life’s trials and tribulations will be over and we’ll spend eternity with Him! I absolutely can’t wait for that day!

This reminds me of the song by Jeremy Camp called “There¬† Will Be A Day

I try to hold on to this world with everything I have
But I feel the weight of what it brings, and the hurt that tries to grab
The many trials that seem to never end, His word declares this truth,
That we will enter in this rest with wonders anew
But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings
That there will be a place with no more suffering
There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears
There will be a day when the burdens of this place,
Will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face
But until that day, we’ll hold on to you always
I know the journey seems so long
You feel you’re walking on your own
But there has never been a step
Where you’ve walked out all alone
Troubled soul don’t lose your heart
‘Cause joy and peace he brings
And the beauty that’s in store
Outweighs the hurt of life’s sting
But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings
There will be a place with no more suffering
There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears
There will be a day when the burdens of this place,
Will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face
But until that day, we’ll hold on to you always
I can’t wait until that day where the very one
I’ve lived for always will wipe away the sorrow that I’ve faced
To touch the scars that rescued me from a life of shame
And misery, this is why, this is why I sing
There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears
There will be a day when the burdens of this place,
Will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face
There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears
There will be a day when the burdens of this place,
Will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face
There will be a day, He’ll wipe away the tears,
He’ll wipe away the tears, He’ll wipe away the tears
There will be a day

Nuclear Stress Test

EditLast month I had a stress test. The results all fell within the normal realms but my cardiologist was still concerned at my chest pain upon exertion so he ordered a nuclear stress test to just rule out other causes.

Just in case you don’t know, a nuclear stress test is where they inject you with a radioactive dye then take two sets of imaging tests….one while you’re resting and another after exertion.

I did fine! I met the target heart rate and was able to make it 5 minutes on the treadmill. (I didn’t make it far on my regular stress test). I was completely out of breath and a little light headed but that quickly went away after I was able to sit down. But as the tech was starting to unhook me from all the wires, I developed a tickle in the back of my throat that has now turned into a full-fledged cough. I started coughing during the second set of imaging tests of my heart but I didn’t have to start over so I guess my coughing didn’t screw things up too bad, lol.

But now I sit here, with that same tickle in the back of my throat and the urge to cough every 5 seconds. I highly doubt the test had anything to do with it, however. It’s just a coincidence. I’m starting to feel yucky too so I’m probably coming down with a bad cold or something.

Makes me wonder what’s in that dye? LOL totally kidding.

Tardy

I’m not someone who is tardy anywhere I go. Never have been, never will be.

I was never late in school. I always got to my classes on time and never could understand why people were late. Too busy socializing, I suppose. I didn’t seem to have that problem. I knew where I needed to be and I got there on time. It’s not that I didn’t want to socialize, I just knew there was a time and a place for it. Wow, I was such a goody goody, now that I think about it. Oh well.

When I know I have somewhere to be I plan on being there 10-15 minutes early. It’s just something I’ve always done. My mother is the same way so I’m supposing I got it from her.

I can’t STAND being late. It drives me crazy. I can’t stand people staring at me when I walk into the room after something has already started. I hate being the center of attention. I’m a wallflower girl, thankyouverymuch.

Sometimes it seems like God is late in answering our prayers when it all actuality, He’s right on time. His timing is not our timing. We need to remember that. And one day He’s coming back for us and it will be right on time.

Are you an early bird? Or do you struggle with tardiness?

This was my first “prompt” I’ve ever done. I’m going to try to start doing these prompts once a week to help me with my writing. This was a little short, I know, but hopefully I’ll get better in time (no pun intended, lol)

Our Advocate

Image result for 1 john 2:1We’re human. We’re going to sin. It’s in our nature.

I wrote a poem last night regarding our sinful nature. Let me know what you think!

Take This Sin

Take this sin
It threatens to consume me
I try to run from it
I try to hide.
But it finds me
No matter how hard I try
It finds me.

Take this sin from me Lord
Take this sin
I’m tired of running
I’m tired of hiding

Please, take this sin.

Better Than a Hallelujah

Better than a Hallelujah

Amy Grant

God loves a lullaby
In a mothers tears in the dead of night
Better than a Hallelujah sometimes.
God loves a drunkards cry,
The soldiers plea not to let him die
Better than a Hallelujah sometimes.

We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah.

The woman holding on for life,
The dying man giving up the fight
Are better than a Hallelujah sometimes
The tears of shame for what’s been done,
The silence when the words won’t come
Are better than a Hallelujah sometimes.

We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah.

Better than a church bell ringing,
Better than a choir singing out, singing out.

We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah.

We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah.

Better than a Hallelujah
(Better than a Hallelujah sometimes)

Are You There?

My youngest nephew is 6 years old. He and I have a close bond. I don’t plan on having children of my own so Tripp is my “baby.”

Whenever he comes by our house, one of the first things he does is come barreling into my room to find me. Then we play or watch basketball (He’s a Tar Heels fan just like his auntie)  and just have a great time together.

Well yesterday when my sister dropped him off with my mom, I wasn’t home. I had ridden somewhere with my aunt and so my car was home so naturally Tripp assumed I was home! Well, he comes inside and starts looking for me and when he realized I wasn’t there he burst into tears. He’s never done something like that before. But he was just looking for his “EE”(my nickname, lol) and I wasn’t there. It really upset him.

It got me to thinking. Do we search diligently for the Lord?

What’s awesome is that the Lord is ALWAYS with us so we don’t have to burst into tears when it seems we can’t find Him. Sometimes it feels like He’s not there but we just need to stop, get quiet and listen to His gentle whisper, “I’m here, my child. Take rest in me.”

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

My Help

Image result for psalm 121My devotional reading this morning was found in Psalm 121. This is one of my favorite psalms.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains‚ÄĒ
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3¬†He will not let your foot slip‚ÄĒ
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

5¬†The¬†Lord¬†watches over¬†you‚ÄĒ
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

7¬†The¬†Lord¬†will keep you from all harm‚ÄĒ
    he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

Knowing that the Lord will always be there with me gives me great comfort. I’m not alone even when I feel the most alone. He will never leave me.

You’re not alone so don’t try to do life on your own. Rather, rejoice in the earthly and eternal care of God as demonstrated in the life, death, resurrection and ascension on the Lord Jesus Christ. And whatever the next steps, take them with His help.
