My Own Worst Critic

I have a tendency of being too hard on myself. I beat myself up over things. I think too hard about some things. I am my own worst critic.

I’m getting so frustrated with myself because I lack any and all creativity.  This bullet journal is not going well for me. I have no artistic bone in my body. I may shelve the bullet journal for a while until I can figure out why I’m actually doing it. Am I trying to do a bullet journal for ME? Or because everyone seems to be doing one and I don’t want to feel left out?

So until I can figure out the answer to that question, no bullet journal for me! πŸ™‚

I haven’t been feeling inspired lately when it comes to my writing. But I’ve taken all of the ideas I’ve been given from my wonderful WordPress family to heart and am going to work hard to write what I know.

I made a joke once: “I know I’m supposed to write what I know but the trouble is I don’t know anything!” LOL, I know that I know things but I don’t feel that I know things worth sharing.

I can’t force the writing. It has to flow.

So what I’m going to do is give it all to God and let Him guide me.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 says,

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, β€œplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

I just want to thank all of y’all who have been praying for me. I really appreciate it. πŸ™‚

  1. Girl you’re right! Don’t force yourself to do something that you’re not ready to do! Leave it to God and he’ll do the rest in Jesus Name!! God bless you and thanks for being honest and sharing! Haha! Much love! Xxoo

  2. I have also struggled with that quote “Write what you know,” haha, because when attempting to compose fiction as I’ve done in the past, I didn’t feel like I had enough experience to write!! XD That’s why I often turned to fantasy and other made-up stories instead of basing my books off what I’d experienced myself. Trying out bullet journaling was worth a shot, but hey, maybe it’ll be something you do at some point, just not now! ❀

    1. exactly! πŸ™‚ i think part of my problem is that i’m a perfectionist when it comes to things like that and even the smallest error I made aggravated me. lol

  3. I kind of view each day as anecdotal so that’s what inspires me to right. Sometimes it could as trivial as the weather but I seem to learn a lot from the things that happen around me. Maybe you too have learned something new that happened in your day. Just a thought. 😊 – Sherline

  4. Well, I for one love what you write :):) but I also understand wanting that creative juice to flow, and it seems like all that’s coming out is dust :):) I’m like you, I know stuff but I don’t know who would want to hear it. You are doing the right thing, putting it in God’s hands, and when you get that idea, write it, even if you feel a certain way. Don’t be scared, it’s your blog, and we will love it :):)

  5. I am hopeful that it will all work itself out!I chose to back away for a while and a bunch of ideas began to fill my heart…this took a course of about 5 months. More recently, I began to become consumed with my blog, in the sense that I was expecting too much of myself, and was not able to progress through daily events without feeling immensely pressured. I asked T.R Noble to add me to her prayer list and took a quick break and began to feel better. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and I can direct you to the prayer request link if you would like! Blessings! Xoxo

      1. Leigh, if you would like any other specifics for your prayer requests, I can add them ❀ or if you would me to personally pray anything else for you I will. I pray for you daily πŸ™‚

      2. ❀ I can add it.

God's hand in finances and our budget. It's really tight right now because of circumstances and it's scary. But because of this, I'm seeking assurance and trust to continue to praise Him no matter what ❀

  6. It’s hard to take on a project that is out of what you usually do. I am not creative like that either. I’ve found I enjoy coloring. I also just learned of something called quilling, it’s rolled paper that you form into shapes, etc. I don’t think I’ll do it, another it seems fun.

You are on the right track. When I wasn’t sure about my blog last year, but wanted to devote it to Him, I gave it to God and walked forward. Sometimes, you need a break. Sit down and may write down a general idea of what you would like your blog to do. General topics that interest you. That sort of thing. It may help your direction, and ask God to guide your heart in the way He wants you to go. I’ll be asking God to help you as well πŸ˜‰

  7. Wow, I was going through the same thing a few months ago and I just decided that I’m going to just write about what’s going on in my life, the questions that run through my mind and my journey towards finding the answers. Don’t be too hard on yourself, just keep writing in your journal even if it’s one sentence. I don’t know for sure but I doubt the best writers we know didn’t know what to write about in the beginning either but they just kept writing. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, everything you need is inside of you!
