Just Say Jesus

I was listening to this song the other day and this line stuck out: “When You don’t know what to say, just say Jesus.”
I’ve been struggling with my focus lately and there are moments I just don’t know how to pray. I can’t get my mind to settle down long enough to open up to God. But this song says it perfectly: Just say Jesus. He knows our every thought, our every struggle. He knows what is on our mind! So when we struggle with prayer, when we don’t know what to say, just say Jesus. He already knows what we want to say.
7eventh Time Down-“Just Say Jesus”
Life gets tough, and times get hard
It’s hard to find the truth in all the lies
If you’re tired of wondering why
Your heart isn’t healing
And nothing feels like home
Cause your lost and alone just screaming at the sky
When you don’t know what to say
Just Say Jesus
There is power in the name
The Name of Jesus
If the words wont come
Cause you’re to afraid to pray
Just Say Jesus
Whisper it now, or shout it out
However it comes out, He hears your cry
Out of nowhere He will come-you got to believe it
He will rescue you
Just call out to the Way, The Truth, The Life
When you don’t know what to say
Just Say Jesus
There is power in the name
The Name of Jesus
If the words won’t come
Cause you’re to afraid to pray
There is just One name
Strong enough to save
There is just One name
There is just One name
Jesus
When you don’t know what to say
Just Say Jesus
There’s still power in the name
The Name of Jesus
If the words wont come
Cause you’re to afraid to pray
If the words wont come
And you don’t know what to say
Just Say Jesus

Unable to Focus

The struggle is real, y’all.

Lately, I have had the worst time trying to concentrate on things. I want to read, so I grab a book and can’t get past the first page. My mind is wandering all over the place. I want to write a blog post, so I open up WordPress and out comes…..nothing.

(Just trying to write this is painful….my mind wanders and I can’t sit still)

I just can’t concentrate enough to get it done. I’m restless and irritable that I can’t focus long enough to get something done.

Looks like I’ll be having to make a call to my psychiatrist. I was on Kapvay for the adult ADHD but my doctor took me off of it because I was having side effects that I couldn’t handle. We discussed starting something else but I told her I wanted to wait to see if I could beat this on my own. I mean, I know ADHD is not something you can just “beat” but I was confident I could control it.

Boy, was I wrong.

It’s so frustrating.

So please, if you get a moment, please pray for me.

*********

Okay, so I took a break from writing this and guess what I came across? A prayer I had found online and copied onto an index card. Here’s what it says:

Lord, I am wholly devoted to You. I struggle with distractions but my heart wants You. Help me, walk with me, never leave me. I give you my distractions, Lord. Lead me into green pastures, still waters and do life with me, God. I love You, I set my affection on You. You are good and faithful and You will provide for every need I have. I trust You, help me to trust You completely. Let me feel Your presence, let me feel Your love. Thank You!

I’m not sure who wrote out that prayer but I thank them for posting it because it really helped me.

Distractions are going to happen in life, no doubt about it. But I have GOD on my side and He will take care of me when I’m going through these periods of not being able to focus.

But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

If We Are The Body….

This song by Casting Crowns has been on my mind the past couple of days. My church, which has been open 65 years, will be closing soon and we will be relaunching as a new church with a new name. The building we are currently in is beyond repair. It will cost way too much to fix and it’s just not worth putting all that money into it anymore.
It’s been bittersweet to think about this church closing, because I’ve been there since I was 4,  but as I’ve been reminded, it’s just a building! Where we meet doesn’t matter because WE are the church. We are the body.
We need to be reaching out to others. The hurting and the lost. They need Jesus. We are called to be a light in this world, to show people Jesus.
1 Corinthians 12:27 tells us,

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

If We Are The Body

Casting Crowns

It’s crowded in worship today
As she slips in trying to fade into the faces
The girls teasing laughter is carrying farther than they know
Farther than they know
But if we are the body
Why aren’t His arms reaching?
Why aren’t His hands healing?
Why aren’t His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren’t His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
There is a way, there is a way
A traveler is far away from home
He sheds his coat and quietly sinks into the back row
The weight of their judgmental glances
Tells him that his chances are better out on the road
But if we are the body
Why aren’t His arms reaching?
Why aren’t His hands healing?
Why aren’t His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren’t His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
Jesus paid much too high a price
For us to pick and choose who should come
And we are the body of Christ
But if we are the body
Why aren’t His arms reaching?
Why aren’t His hands healing?
Why aren’t His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren’t His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
Jesus is the way
Jesus is the way
we are His hands
We are His feet
We are His body
Jesus is the way

Reckless Love

I heard the song, Reckless Love, by Cory Asbury awhile back and immediately fell in love with it. I invite you all to take a listen to it when you get a chance! Here’s the chorus:

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God

God loves us so much. He loves us with an everlasting love, an agape love. It’s so hard to fathom this kind of love, isn’t it?

It’s hard to think that He loved us so much that He sent His only Son to die for us so we don’t have to spend eternity in hell. How is that type of love possible? To love us so unconditionally?

We cannot fathom it because we are human and our minds just can’t wrap around the idea that Someone would love us that much.  But He does and He longs to have a relationship with us.

I long to love people the way Jesus does. As Masey Mclain once put it:

I want to love people with a heart of compassion and see and love people as Jesus does.

Or as my friend Stephen over at Fractured Faith Blog  once said:

Because we are loved undeservedly we need to love unreservedly in return.

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

He loves you and is calling you by name to come to Him. He is knocking at your heart’s door. Won’t you come to Him today?

Sorry For Being Absent

I know a lot of you are probably wondering where I’ve been the past several weeks. I’ve been neglecting my blog and I feel awful about that.

I let Satan get the best of me and allowed him to distract me from my blogging responsibilities.

This blog really is important to me. I truly want others to come to Jesus through this blog. But I can’t neglect my blog like I’ve been doing the past several weeks.

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Romans 10:14-15

And even if only 1 person comes to Christ through this blog, I will thank the Lord!

Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Luke 15:3-7

Christ in Me, Jeremy Camp
So come and empty me
So that it’s you I breathe
I want my life to be
Only Christ in me
So I will fix my eyes
‘Cause you’re my source of life
I need the world to see
That it’s Christ in me
That it’s Christ in me
Done with what holds me down
The things I once was chasing after
Throw off these heavy chains
That I have let become my master
So now I’m running free
Into an ocean of mercy unending

What’s My Motivation?

I read an interesting post by Stephen over at FracturedFaithBlog entitled Make Every Blog Count   about our motivation behind blogging. Something he said really got me to thinking. He said:

Writers must have a purpose when they set pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. There must be a reason for the activity, a message that they want to impart. Writing without purpose leads to lazy language as we drift from sentence to sentence, meandering from one paragraph to the next.

In order to promote debate a blogger must be passionate about their subject matter.

Stephen, “FracturedFaithBlog”

Why do we blog? I know I’ve touched on this subject a couple of months ago but Stephen’s post really got me to thinking about it again.

Like Stephen said, we must be passionate about our subject matter. Am I passionate about my blog and its overall purpose? I’d like to think so, yes.

In my previous post on this subject matter, I mentioned that if I truly want to be a successful blogger, I must be committed. I can’t be half hearted. Do I truly want this? Is blogging something I really want to do? I must decide this. More importantly, is blogging something GOD wants me to do? THAT is the question I must answer.

I was listening to the Newsboys just a few minutes ago and their song “Shine” came on. I have always loved this song. The chorus definitely fits in with what I’m trying to write about this morning.

Shine.
Make ’em wonder whatcha got.
Make ’em wish that they were not
On the outside looking bored.
Shine.
Let it shine before all men.
Let em see good works and then
Let em glorify the Lord.

The purpose of this blog is to bring others to Jesus. I want others to see that ultimately it’s all about Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-16 says,

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

So my motivation, my goal, is to see others come to know Jesus. 🙂

Lately, I’ve been struggling with getting the words out. In fact, even as I’m writing this, I’m having to stop ever so often because the words just aren’t flowing like I’d like them to. But in the end I know that God will give me the right words to say. Because like I said, ultimately it’s all about Him.
