Stagnant Faith No More

Now I’m just a beggar in the presence of a King

I wish I could bring so much more

But if it’s true You use broken things

Then here I am Lord, I’m all Yours

Matthew West, “Broken Things”

Lately I’ve been extremely restless. I know I’ll have to bring this up to my doctor and I’m sure an increase of my medication will be discussed.

So many thoughts race through my head. Am I worthy enough? Am I smart enough? Am I….enough?

I just wish I could get these thoughts of inadequacy and unworthiness out of my head. Satan knows my weaknesses and he is definitely on the warpath. He sees me panicking and is ready to swoop in and set up camp.

I fear I’ve become stagnant in my faith. I feel I’m not moving forward in my relationship with the Lord. I am feeling so disconnected with God and I realize it’s my fault. God hasn’t moved, it’s ME that’s stopped walking.

So if you wonder if the prayers you pray

Are bouncing off the ceiling, you’re feeling alone

I want you to know, know

You are known

And if you wonder if you’re just another nameless face

In a crowd, well, now you’re home

I want you to know, know

You are known

Matthew West, “You Are Known”

Y’all. Matthew West writes great songs! I don’t think I’ve ever heard a song of his that I didn’t like. I think one of my absolute favorites is “The Motions.” Definitely check it out if you’ve never heard it.

This might hurt, it’s not safe

But I know that I’ve gotta make a change

I don’t care if I break,

At least I’ll be feeling something

‘Cause just okay is not enough

Help me fight through the nothingness of life

Matthew West, “The Motions”

I know I must make a change. I’ve been stuck in this rut for far too long. I’m tired of going through the motions as a Christian. How am I serving God by living like this? That’s easy, I’m NOT. I feel I’ve failed you, my readers.

How can I be a witness if, in my own life, I’m not living the way I should be? I mean, c’mon! My blog is “All You Need Is Jesus!” I feel like a hypocrite. But that is going to change. I am slowly getting back on track and back in my walk with the Lord.

1 John 1:9 assures me that if I confess my sins, He is FAITHFUL and JUST to forgive my sins.

Bear with me as I find my way again.

  1. Leigh, you have not failed your readers. Go back over and read your post again, What I heard was your heartfelt words together with Matthew Wests lyrics sounded like a prayer to me. You’r not telling us your in a rut, your telling Jesus your in a rut, your telling him that you feel disconnected from him. Your prayer was glorifying God with your truth, that he already knew. Your not being a hypocrite at all, we all get in a rut at some time or another. Hey Leigh, try this visual. Imagine falling into Jesus’ open arms welcoming you back. I love that visual, for any trial, my imagining falling into his arms and saying Jesus help me, I need you. God’s got this, he’s got you…Blessings. ( P.s. I’m a fan of Matthew West too).

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words. I never thought of this being a prayer. Thank you for showing me! I love the visual you shared. I love that image of falling into Jesus’ open arms.

  2. You didn’t let me down…you let me know I’m not alone in the feeling of disconnected. I stay busy busy serving in the church. I think I need to stop being such a Martha, and renew my spirit at the feet of Jesus like Mary

  3. I highly recommend watching some videos by Fighting 4 Faith on YouTube. Pastor Chris Rosebrough has challenged me in many things I used to think. For decades I struggled understanding what is my purpose, how do you “hear” God, etc. And pastor Christ just laid out the truth simply. He and Justin Peters (who has cerebral palsy) have really lessened the burdens of my fears in my walk with Christ, and I am strengthened to grow in Jesus. If you are a child of God, having received your Lord and Savior, He has nailed our sins to the cross. While we were STILL sinners, Christ died for us. Yes, we sometimes go through the motions, but praise the Holy Spirit who convicts us of our sin! This an opportunity to seek forgiveness, repent, and keep walking after Jesus! ❀ God uses all things, Romans 8:28! My sister be encouraged at the love of your Savior and what He has, and what He will do in guiding you closer to Him!

    1. Thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely check out Fighting 4 Faith.
It’s amazing the patience God has with us. I would have definitely given up on myself by now. But God is just that….amazing! He knows what we are capable of, even if we don’t. πŸ™‚
