Anger. It can be extremely harmful. Not just to the person it’s directed to but also the person who is angry! It does no good.
I have a confession to make.
I struggle with anger. But hey! I’m human You’re human. We make mistakes. We allow things to irritate the mess out of us to the point of anger and bitterness.
The Bible makes it clear that there is a righteous anger but there is also a sinful anger. And lately the latter has been the anger that’s been trying to control me.
There are several people who I’ve been bitter towards lately.
I feel guilty when I start becoming bitter towards these people because I know that’s not how I should be living. I’m not portraying Christ with this attitude.
“You must break bitterness before it breaks you! Bitterness is spiritual cancer that can spread quickly by stealing our future and killing our hope.”
Do you struggle with bitterness and anger? Take it to the Lord. Forgive people. You will feel so much freedom when you do.
Check out these few Bible verses on anger.
Anyone who hates another brother or sister hates his brother is really a murderer at heart. And you know that murderers don’t have eternal life within them
I John 3:15
Human anger does NOT produce the righteousness God desires
30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption
26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
If I’m proclaiming Jesus is Lord, maybe I should think about how to represent Jesus well, in my work, in my family, with my friends and how I live my life.
