Prone to Wander, Lord I Feel It

O to grace how great a debtor

Daily I’m constrained to be

Let Thy goodness like a fetter

Bind my wandering heart to Thee

Prone to wander Lord I feel it

Prone to leave the God I love

Here’s my heart, Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above

I’m a wanderer. Honestly most of us are. Wait, you know what? We ALL are prone to wander. It’s in our nature, unfortunately. At one point or another in the different areas of life, we have wandered from the Lord.

Maybe we didn’t get the answer we were hoping for when we asked the Lord. Take a few steps back.

Maybe a tragedy occurred and we blamed God. Take 5 steps back.

Maybe life’s battles just overwhelmed us and we can’t see how a loving God would allow so much suffering. Pull back even further.

Eventually we’re so far back we can’t even feel the Lord’s presence.

Whatever it is….we are wanderers. We are that one sheep that the Lord comes to rescue.

Life is hard. It isn’t always fair. There’s no denying that.

But we have a God who is ALWAYS on our side. We have a God who knows what’s best for us. He always has, always is and always will be on our side!

When you start to feel that tug meant to pull you away from God, pull back…return to the Lord.

Count it ALL joy.

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
