I Am Who I Say I Am: Believe In Me

“Who ARE you? they demanded.

John 8:25

I was reading in John and came across this verse that I know I’ve read before but when I read it this time, I had to chuckle a little.

The people wanted to know who it was Jesus was claiming to be. I sensed a little bit of humor in Jesus’ voice when He says, “The One I have always claimed to be.” Like, “duh” LOL it was as if He was saying, “Come on, people, must I repeat myself over and over again? I have already told you!”

Why couldn’t they grasp that Jesus was who He said He was?

“But despite all the miraculous signs Jesus had done, most of the people still did not believe in him.” (John 12:37)

Why didn’t they believe? For the same reason some people today don’t believe, although they’ve heard the Bible’s message that God loves them, and that Christ died to give them new life, both now and forever. The problem is inside of us — in the stubbornness of our hearts and wills. We want to run our own lives — and we know that if we yield ourselves to Christ, we can’t keep on living the way we once did. Like the rebellious men in one of Jesus’ parables, we declare, “We don’t want this man to be our king” (Luke 19:14).

The world has increasingly gotten worse since biblical times. Tons are ignoring the Bible, turning their back on God and acting as if God doesn’t even exist.

But let me tell you. GOD DOES EXIST! And one day those people who reject God are going to stand before Him and hear these words:   ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

Then…they will spend eternity in Hell. Eternity.

It is OUR mission to reach out to this lost and dying world. We are called to be a light in this dark, dark world. We are called to plant that seed in their heart and allow God to water it. We may never see the growth but God does.

Plant that seed.
