“It Gets Better”

My senior year of high school was…hell. For lack of a better term. I was downright miserable. I hated everything about life. I wanted to die. Life had no meaning.

21 years later….well I have learned a lot over the years. And I’m grateful to God and my family for not giving up on me.

Dear 17 year old self (circa 2001),

I know its rough right now and I know you think life isn’t worth living….

I’m here to tell you….it IS worth the living. It WILL get better.

That hurt you feel in your heart? That hatred? That numbness?

It gets better.

Life may have knocked you down. You feel as if you can’t get back up. You feel like there is no point in even trying.

It gets better.

The depression? Well, it will still be there but you have discovered how to manage it. (for the most part)

You will come to realize that life really is worth the living no matter how many obstacles that get in the way.

Spend more time with the Lord. Dig deep into His Word and press on. Remember, God will fight your battles.

‘For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’ (Deuteronomy 20:4)

It. Will. Get. Better.

Remember that.
