As all of you know, I will be taking a couple classes in the spring at my local community college. Creative Writing and Introduction to English Lit. Not going to lie…I’m getting extremely nervous…why? I have no idea. I guess it’s just because I really want to do well. I’m afraid I don’t have what it takes….
Anyway, I need some advice….tips, examples, ideas…etc. Anything you think will help me as I start these two classes. 🙂
I lack self confidence (no shock there, lol) so if you can think of some tips to build my confidence that’d be great too.
I’ve been trying to come up with some story ideas to help me with Creative Writing. I have several that I’m hoping I can build on.
Thanks in advance for your help!
When I was in college it always helped to write down the assignments and due dates and tape that piece of paper to my desk. I would always take good notes in class and during the required reading and research. Those notes would become the outlines I needed for the papers I would write. Just stay organized and take one day at a time. You will do great. Praying the Lord blesses you!

Imposter syndrome is real and first drafts are just that—first drafts. The real writing develops through revision, and you’ll find that you work harder than other people. If you like to read and like to write, these will be the perfect classes for you. It might not be easy, but you’ll love it.

Leigh, you will do fine because it is your desire to use your new knowledge in your blog ministry. You are a good writer already, so a couple classes will make you even better. My recommendation is to lean heavily into Jesus. He is your strength, your peace and your confidence. I often rely on Joshua 1:9:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Go with God, my friend.

I love Sue’s answer! It is the truest and most useful advice that can possibly be offered. I too, enjoy creative writing, and when I invite the Lord into the process, He enlivens my imagination and gives me themes and ideas that expression aspects of His Kingdom!
