So I was browsing through Spotify the other day trying to find something different to listen to and decided to search for 90s Christian music. Who remembers Plus One?? They were the Christian version of NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys. I was obsessed with Plus One. I loved their songs…they were so catchy…(hey I was 16, give me a break, LOL)
As I listened to the songs again I was immediately transported back to my teenage years.
And boy were those different times back then. As a teenager, I was struggling so hard with depression/anxiety (just the beginning of my struggle with mental health problems) and was overall a hot mess.
Yet I could turn on Plus One and escape for a bit. I wasn’t a Christian during this time (I didn’t come to follow Christ until a few years later) but I found comfort in the lyrics all the same.

It’s comforting to know that even when we feel weak, when we feel we can’t go on…our God is STRONG and will always be with us through difficult periods in our lives. He will never leave us. Never let us down.
He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless….…But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
Isaiah 40:29,31
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.
God’s strength will get us through.
