Making Disciples is Our Mission

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20

The church I attend is called Mission Church and our “motto” (for lack of a better term) is “God’s Message, Our Mission.” We are to respond to Jesus’ call to “make disciples” with urgency, with a love for others to come to Christ.

Will obeying this call be uncomfortable sometimes? Absolutely!
Will it be worth it? Most definitely.

If the love of Christ is in us then we MUST reach out to the lost! If we find something we LOVE we should WANT to tell others about it!

Discipleship won’t be easy and Jesus even tells us that. Struggles, opposition, rejection…it will follow us as we follow the One who died to set us free.

18“If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. 19The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. 20Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you.

John 15:18-20

BUT!!!! Yes, there is a BUT!!

God will always be by our side and will give us the strength and perseverance to stand tall. He gave us the Holy Spirit to guide us and give us the words to say when witnessing to a lost and dying world.

26“But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me. 27And you must also testify about me because you have been with me from the beginning of my ministry.

John 15:26-27
