Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
Psalm 139:23-24
I’ve been feeling like I’ve been going through the motions…once again. I know we all struggle with this from time to time as Christians. It just seems like lately, I’ve been struggling with it often. We get so complacent in our walk with the Lord that it becomes routine. Our prayers seem stagnant…our devotions become something we do because it’s what is expected of us. We wake up, utter a quick prayer and that is all the praying we do the whole day. We skim through the Bible in a rush, not gleaning anything from what we’ve read.
It can’t be this way, fellow believers! Something must change!
We need to find our way back to the Lord…remember when you gave your life to the Lord? Remember how excited…how much joy you felt? It’s time to get back to that.
Get eager again! Open that Bible with excitement…pray with fervency.
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10
The Lord knows our hearts. He knows what we truly feel. He knows our intent. He knows when we are just going through the motions.
1 Chronicles 28:9 says this: 9 “And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.
It’s time to check our hearts. Has our faith become stagnant?
Where’s your heart?
