Alright, you guys! It’s that time of year again! It’s GAME TIME!
Game time, you may ask?
For those of you who follow me on Facebook or Twitter you KNOW that I’m a die hard North Carolina Tar Heels fan!
Now this year we aren’t doing so well. We’re 3-8 in the conference and 10-12 overall. *big sigh*
But a Tar Heel fan I AM and a Tar Heel fan I’ll always be! Win or Lose!
So why am I so excited for today? Because today is game 1 of 2 of our rivalry with the team from down Tobacco Road. The team who resides a mere 8 miles from Chapel Hill. The team everyone loves to hate. Yes, the Duke Blue Devils. (9-2, 19-3)
Game time is at 6PM. I’ve got my #50 Tyler Hansbrough jersey on and I’m pumped up already. Yes, I realize the game doesn’t start for another 5 hours but I don’t care. LOL. I’m ready for this game!
Because of our record you may be wondering why I’m so excited especially since Duke is ranked #7 and are the heavy favorites to win this game.
But it’s Carolina-Duke! This rivalry is fierce! This rivalry NEVER disappoints!
I realize this post is probably a bore to most of you guys reading this. I hope to be back to normal soon. 🙂 LOL
March is upon us and for all you college basketball fans, you know what that means!! March Madness!!! The Big Dance!!!
Selection Sunday is today!!! To learn more about the process and how teams are chosen click here. I mean, you don’t have to, especially if you have no interest in sports, lol. It’ll just help you have a better understanding of how the teams are picked. There is this huge process that takes A LOT of things into consideration in order to be selected and what seeding you get.
As you all know I am a HUGE North Carolina Tar Heel fan! I can’t wait to start filling out my bracket and watching the games! GO TAR HEELS!
If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, be prepared for a bunch of March Madness posts!!! I get so pumped for this time of year!
In other news, sorry for being absent once again. I have been busy with work and then last week I came down with the horrible flu bug and it kept me pretty much bed ridden for a week. The doctor prescribed me Tamiflu and it actually made me sicker! So even though it goes against the doctor’s orders, I stopped taking it. I am not 100% but I’m getting there. I go back to work tomorrow for the first time in a week.
I realize I’ve been neglecting my blog. I’ve missed corresponding with you all! I promise I will try to do better!
How is YOUR day going? Are you a March Madness fanatic like me?
*****Disclaimer* Sorry if this post bores you. It’s all about my love for the game and the passion I have watching my Tar Heels play!*****
You’ve been warned! 🙂
It’s that time of year in college basketball! It’s Rivalry week! Thursday night is the showdown between the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Duke Blue Devils. Game on! There is no bigger rivalry in this sport! Honestly, in all sports! Think I’m kidding? You wanna know how close this rivalry is? In the past 100 games, the series is tied 50-50. They’ve each won 50 games. That’s how close it is.
The Tar Heels have been struggling this season. They’re coming off a championship win last April and they ended up losing some players to graduation and the NBA draft. It’s time to rebuild! But if Joel Berry and Luke Maye show up healthy we definitely have a great chance to win!
And because they are rebuilding, I’m a little worried about this game. Duke is hot this season (ugh, I can’t believe I just typed that but I have to be honest!) Duke loves to shoot the 3s. The Tar Heels are having a hard time at defending the 3s.
I know that both teams are putting in their very best in practice in preparation for this HUGE game! They will play twice this season as they always do. This game will be on the Tar Heels turf and then the one in March will be on Duke’s turf.
Carolina-Duke is THE best rivalry! Hands down, no questions about it! And hey, don’t forget…..Michael Jordan was a Tar Heel! THE GOAT! (For all you non-sports fans who have graciously read this far, it means Greatest of All Time)
I’ll be heading over to a friend’s house (who are also HUGE Tar Heels fans) on Thursday to watch this big game. I’ve got my jersey ready!
This is the way I get during this time of year. I LOVE watching basketball and I love the passion involved. I get just as passionate watching a game as they players do playing the game!
When March Madness rolls around in a few weeks, I’ll be one of those millions of people who fill out a bracket. I get all into the MADNESS!
I just finished watching a really close game between the Tar Heels and Notre Dame. Whew, is all I can say! 69-68! On the road! Thanks to Joel Berry’s last second free throws.
I hate close games, lol. My blood pressure rises and my heart rate accelerates! My adrenaline starts flowing and pretty soon I’m yelling at the TV as if they can hear me.
“Shoot the ball!” Don’t shoot the 3!” “Drive to the basket!” are some of the things you can hear me “coaching” to the players.
I’ve been a Tar Heel fan for as long as I can remember. It was the 2005 National Championship win that propelled me into a super fan. Then we won the championship again in 2009 and again last April. Basketball is my absolute favorite sport to watch. The intensity of the game. The passion. It’s amazing.
Sometimes I get too wrapped up in a game and I forget that it’s just that: a game. But the good Lord quickly reminds me. I hope I show the Lord passion like I do my Tar Heels. Because in the end, this game won’t be around. In the end, its passion for the Lord that’s more important than anything else. Sports, included. It’s nice to win and all but it doesn’t mean a thing in the long run.
I would hope that the second I’ve put a game in front of serving my God that I would be brought down. I don’t want my love for a game become an idol.
At the same time, I think it’s okay to have a passion for sports. Or anything else for that matter. God gave us the ability to express passion for different areas of life. But we must keep Him first.
