Alright, you guys! It’s that time of year again! It’s GAME TIME!
Game time, you may ask?
For those of you who follow me on Facebook or Twitter you KNOW that I’m a die hard North Carolina Tar Heels fan!
Now this year we aren’t doing so well. We’re 3-8 in the conference and 10-12 overall. *big sigh*
But a Tar Heel fan I AM and a Tar Heel fan I’ll always be! Win or Lose!
So why am I so excited for today? Because today is game 1 of 2 of our rivalry with the team from down Tobacco Road. The team who resides a mere 8 miles from Chapel Hill. The team everyone loves to hate. Yes, the Duke Blue Devils. (9-2, 19-3)
Game time is at 6PM. I’ve got my #50 Tyler Hansbrough jersey on and I’m pumped up already. Yes, I realize the game doesn’t start for another 5 hours but I don’t care. LOL. I’m ready for this game!
Because of our record you may be wondering why I’m so excited especially since Duke is ranked #7 and are the heavy favorites to win this game.
But it’s Carolina-Duke! This rivalry is fierce! This rivalry NEVER disappoints!
I realize this post is probably a bore to most of you guys reading this. I hope to be back to normal soon. 🙂 LOL
So tell me, how is YOUR day going?
So I’m leaving Tuesday afternoon for TN to see my dad! Words can’t express how excited I am to have 10 days off work to spend time in such a beautiful state!
I’m bringing my tablet and detachable keyboard because I am going to try to get on here and update y’all! I’m going to try to post some pictures of the different places we go. I think we’re going to visit some small towns. I love visiting small towns. It feels so homey and cute.
I’m also excited because I will (hopefully) be able to see a friend of mine from college that I haven’t seen in almost 10 years! She lives in Mississippi but will be in Nashville for a couple of days. So yay for that!!!!
Anyway, just wanted to hop on here and let you all know what was up with me.
Hope you all are having a great Sunday!
*Disclaimer* For the next few weeks, my blog posts will most likely be basketball related as it is that time of year! And it will just be random thoughts I have throughout the tourney.
March Madness is officially underway.
My bracket is already busted. LOL.
That’s the beauty of March Madness though! I love it! This is my absolute favorite time of year! Basketball is on all day long!
The Tar Heels entered the tournament as a #2 Seed and will play Lipscomb, the #15 seed tomorrow at 2:45. I’m pumped! GO HEELS!
I have us advancing to the Final Four.
I’m currently watching the Villanova/Radford game. I have Villanova advancing in my bracket and so far they look good. 🙂
Why do I like basketball so much? I just love the passion involved and the competitiveness of it all. It’s just a fun sport for me to watch!
I’ve been going back and forth between games all afternoon. Loyola-Chicago busted my bracket by beating Miami but that’s okay. This is their first tournament win since 1985! Pretty cool.
I tend to like the underdogs. There is just something about a no-name team coming from behind and beating the big guys that gets me excited! (Unless the big guy is my Tar Heels, then not so much, lol)
If you’ve made it this far in the post, you are to be congratulated. My thoughts are literally all over the place.
I promise to be back with more inspiring posts, lol. March just has me crazy!
It’s the madness, I tell you!
*****Disclaimer* Sorry if this post bores you. It’s all about my love for the game and the passion I have watching my Tar Heels play!*****
You’ve been warned! 🙂
It’s that time of year in college basketball! It’s Rivalry week! Thursday night is the showdown between the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Duke Blue Devils. Game on! There is no bigger rivalry in this sport! Honestly, in all sports! Think I’m kidding? You wanna know how close this rivalry is? In the past 100 games, the series is tied 50-50. They’ve each won 50 games. That’s how close it is.
The Tar Heels have been struggling this season. They’re coming off a championship win last April and they ended up losing some players to graduation and the NBA draft. It’s time to rebuild! But if Joel Berry and Luke Maye show up healthy we definitely have a great chance to win!
And because they are rebuilding, I’m a little worried about this game. Duke is hot this season (ugh, I can’t believe I just typed that but I have to be honest!) Duke loves to shoot the 3s. The Tar Heels are having a hard time at defending the 3s.
I know that both teams are putting in their very best in practice in preparation for this HUGE game! They will play twice this season as they always do. This game will be on the Tar Heels turf and then the one in March will be on Duke’s turf.
Carolina-Duke is THE best rivalry! Hands down, no questions about it! And hey, don’t forget…..Michael Jordan was a Tar Heel! THE GOAT! (For all you non-sports fans who have graciously read this far, it means Greatest of All Time)
I’ll be heading over to a friend’s house (who are also HUGE Tar Heels fans) on Thursday to watch this big game. I’ve got my jersey ready!
This is the way I get during this time of year. I LOVE watching basketball and I love the passion involved. I get just as passionate watching a game as they players do playing the game!
When March Madness rolls around in a few weeks, I’ll be one of those millions of people who fill out a bracket. I get all into the MADNESS!
Go Tar Heels!!!!!
(did anyone sing that in Julie Andrew’s voice? Because I sure did as I typed it!) 🙂 🙂 🙂
Anyways, I thought I’d share a little about me and here are a few of my favorite things:
Books! Reading is my absolute favorite thing to do besides blogging! Karen Kingsbury is my favorite author of all time. I have practically ALL of her books.
Pens! I love writing with a good pen. My favorite pen is the Pilot G2. They write so smoothly!
Thunderstorms! Not storms that produce tornadoes, no those terrify me. But I do love a good thunderstorm.
North Carolina Tar Heels! I’m a die-hard fan as you already know if you’ve read past posts.
I’m not feeling that well today. I think I’m coming down with something. I’ve got a cough and the body aches….. I’m not running a fever so I doubt it’s the flu but man I feel awful.
EditLast month I had a stress test. The results all fell within the normal realms but my cardiologist was still concerned at my chest pain upon exertion so he ordered a nuclear stress test to just rule out other causes.
Just in case you don’t know, a nuclear stress test is where they inject you with a radioactive dye then take two sets of imaging tests….one while you’re resting and another after exertion.
I did fine! I met the target heart rate and was able to make it 5 minutes on the treadmill. (I didn’t make it far on my regular stress test). I was completely out of breath and a little light headed but that quickly went away after I was able to sit down. But as the tech was starting to unhook me from all the wires, I developed a tickle in the back of my throat that has now turned into a full-fledged cough. I started coughing during the second set of imaging tests of my heart but I didn’t have to start over so I guess my coughing didn’t screw things up too bad, lol.
But now I sit here, with that same tickle in the back of my throat and the urge to cough every 5 seconds. I highly doubt the test had anything to do with it, however. It’s just a coincidence. I’m starting to feel yucky too so I’m probably coming down with a bad cold or something.
Makes me wonder what’s in that dye? LOL totally kidding.
I was just curious as to what you all prefer when reading the Bible.
For me I go between the NIV and the NKJV but I’m curious about the CSB. I really would like to get that Bible She Reads Truth. It looks really interesting.
The snow and I are no longer on speaking terms. I had to get out today to run an errand for my brother and as I was walking across the parking lot, I slipped on a sheet of ice, fell to my knees and scraped the left knee up pretty nastily. Tore a small hole in my jeans too. Grrrrr.
So no, snow and I are no longer friends.
I know what you’re thinking. “Oh Leigh, this will pass, your knee will heal and you’ll forget about it.” Nope! After having to spend several days indoors due to all this lovely snow and experiencing cabin fever, I have decided that snow and I are done.
I’m not bitter by any means, lol. I’m laughing as I type this. So most likely you all are right and I WILL forget about this eventually. Just not this winter.
I went back to my cardiologist this past Tuesday. He wants me to go in for a nuclear stress test because even though my regular stress test was normal and he didn’t find any abnormal readings on my heart monitor, he’s still concerned about the chest pain I’m getting upon exertion. I should be getting a call from the scheduler to set up the date for that test.
I’m not worried. God’s got this. He’s in control. I truly feel my cardiologist just wants to be safe than sorry, you know?
It’s game day! I’m currently watching my Tar Heels play against Virginia. I get so hyped up watching my Heels play. I definitely wouldn’t want to check my blood pressure, especially during a close game and when we play Duke. Honestly? I don’t see us winning today. I have to be honest. We just aren’t playing consistently. That’s our problem.
We are the reigning National Champions but we lost a core group of players to the NBA draft and graduation. We’ve got a great group of players but they don’t seem to play like they want to win, you know?
One thing I’m slowly learning is that IT IS JUST A GAME! Win or lose, it’s a game and it doesn’t really matter in the long run. I temporarily forget this sometimes, lol.
Church has been cancelled for tomorrow due to the icy road conditions. I hadn’t been planning on going anyways. I’m not confident when driving in the snow/ice.
Mom and I leave Wednesday for the OBX! I am so excited! I look forward to this trip every year! The roads should definitely be cleared up by then. I sure hope they are!
How is YOUR day going?
Verse of the day:
…..I’m going out of my mind here! There’s only so much that I can do in the house! I can’t really get out in the snow because I don’t have the proper boots to go out in the snow plus my knees are giving me a fit and I don’t trust myself to be stable out in the snow.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the snow! But I tend to forget about the cabin fever that sets in after awhile.
I’m currently reading Weird by Craig Groeschel, as you all know if you’ve been reading my chapter by chapter reviews on it. But I also reading a book called The Long Game, which is book 2 in the Fixer series. I checked both books out the other day from the library and read the first book in 2 days. It’s a YA series but it’s really good! I just started the second book today. The books are by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I’ve never heard of her but apparently she has a slew of books out there. I can’t wait to start reading them!
In case you are interested in the series, here’s a synopsis of the first book, The Fixer:
When sixteen-year-old Tess Kendrick is sent to live with her older sister, Ivy, she has no idea that the infamous Ivy Kendrick is Washington D.C.’s #1 “fixer,” known for making politicians’ scandals go away for a price. No sooner does Tess enroll at Hardwicke Academy than she unwittingly follows in her sister’s footsteps and becomes D.C.’s premier high school fixer, solving problems for elite teens.
Secrets pile up as each sister lives a double life…until their worlds come crashing together and Tess finds herself in the middle of a conspiracy with one of her classmates and a client of Ivy’s. Suddenly, there is much more on the line than good grades, money, or politics, and the price for this fix might be more than Tess is willing to pay.
Usually I can predict endings to books but not this one! Barnes has a way with words that had me guessing until the very end!
Do you like to read? What’s a favorite series of yours?
