Happy 2018!

See the source image

I can’t believe it’s already 2018! 2017 just flew by!

Next week I will be heading down to the OBX with my mom to join my sister and her family for a few days of relaxation. We go every year and I always come back feeling refreshed and ready to start the new year! We don’t  necessarily do lots of things during the week. It’s just a time to get away and focus on what really matters: family. Sometimes we play board games. We’ll watch movies. We do go out and do things but it’s a leisure pace. We get ready when we feel like it. One year we went to the Wright Brothers Memorial. That was pretty neat. It was FREEZING COLD but what were we expecting right? It’s January! LOL.

See the source imageSo what is my main goal for 2018? Well, my biggest goal is to lose weight. It’s going to be a challenge because 2 of my medications I take for my fibromyalgia and bipolar disorder cause weight gain. But I just have to have determination to lose the weight. I know I can do it. And I know God will see me through it.

Other goals I have are to spend more time in God’s Word. To read more books. To have a better attitude towards certain people in my life.

How about you? What are your goals for 2018?

Verse of the day:

Be very careful then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:15-16

Patience

I’m at mom’s physical therapy appointment waiting for her to finish and I’m so bored. I brought my Nook to read but I’m just not in the reading mood at the moment. So why not write a blog post from my phone? 😊

Waiting has never been my favorite thing. My patience is very low and I get annoyed with the whole waiting game. It’s not something I’m proud of and I’m trying to learn how to have more patience but I WILL NOT pray for patience. That’s the one thing I will not do. Because I honestly believe patience is extremely tested when it’s prayed for. And I’m already tested enough, lol.

How about you? Do you or have you ever prayed for patience?

Unique Blogger Award

Unique blogger award

I was nominated by Tracie for the Unique Blogger award! I am very honored! I love reading her blog. I encourage you all to read it as well. You can tell she loves God and wants to please Him in all areas of her life. 🙂

I haven’t been blogging very long. I’ve had this site for several years but rarely wrote and then when I finally got serious about God I thought blogging would be a great way to get Christ’s message out there!

Answering the Questions:

1. What is a blessing that you are currently in the midst of experiencing?

I am meeting new people every day through WordPress who love God and strive to live for Him daily. It’s a blessing to get to know all these people. 🙂

2. What is your favorite vacation spot that you have experienced?

Every January my family and I go to the OBX (Outer Banks, NC) for a time of relaxation and fun. We don’t necessarily do a lot of things but rather just spend time together. It’s cold, yes, but it’s still so much fun!

3. If you could only tell your (current or future) grandchildren one message, what would it be?

Live for God every single day. Strive to be like Him all the time. God loves you and has great plans for you.

Nominees:

Pete, Walking in Christ

His Perfect Timing

My Questions for the Nominees:

1.) Growing up, what was your dream job?

2.) What is a hobby of yours? (other than blogging! lol)

3.) How old were you when you accepted Christ as your Savior?

Keep on blogging, you guys! I love reading your posts!

Stress Test

Image result for stress test

So this morning I had a stress test/echocardiogram to see why I’ve been having heart palpitations/chest pain. Some of you may remember that I had an ablation in 2005 to correct a problem called WPW, or Wolff Parkinson White syndrome. The ablation was a success and I hadn’t been having problems until now. So my cardiologist suggested the stress test/echo as well as wear a heart monitor for 48 hours.

The stress test went okay, I guess.  I had barely started walking when my heart rate shot up to like 125 and I started getting out of breath. I am very out of shape so I know that has a lot to do with getting out of breath so quickly.  But they told me to let them know as soon as I felt I couldn’t go on and then I had to lie down on my left side quickly so they could do the echo. And let me tell you…..that was not fun. She had to press hard into my chest and that sucker HURT! I deal with costochondritis from time to time because of my fibromyalgia so I think that’s why it hurt so badly.

I’m already annoyed with the heart monitor. LOL. I can’t shower for two days, YUCK! And because of the wires, I’m constantly made aware of it any time I move a certain way. But it’s only for two days. I just keep telling myself that.

So that’s been MY Wednesday!

How is your Wednesday going?

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays

Nothing really special about this blog post, lol. Just wanted to share this video of one of my favorite Christmas songs. 🙂

Okay, so I’m listening to Pentatonix’s cover of this song by NSYNC and am loving it! I have never really listened to Pentatonix until the last couple of weeks and wow….I’m blown away by their talent!

It’s such a fun song to listen to! I can’t help but smile as I sing along!

Have you listened to anything by Pentatonix? What’s your favorite song they cover?

Sick

I haven’t been feeling too well the past couple of days and this morning I woke up with my head pounding…..stuffy AND runny nose (seriously, make up your mind, nose) and overall yuckiness. It’s sinuses, I’m almost sure of it.

I’m sick for another reason too….my Tar Heels got slaughtered last night by Michigan State. I didn’t even finish watching the game it was so pathetic.

I already had a doctor’s appointment scheduled for today so I’ll probably be put on something to help this sinus infection. Yay, antibiotics. (detect sarcasm?)

I’m on chapter 4 of One Way Love by Tullian Tchividjian (seriously, how do you even pronounce his last name??) and it’s really good so far!

“It’s when we come to the end of ourselves that we come to the beginning of grace.”

“Doing the right thing with the wrong motivation reveals deep unrighteousness not devout righteousness.”

A quote by T.S Elliot: “the last temptation is the greatest treason: to do the right deed for the wrong reason.”

Alright y’all, I would write some more but I’m just feeling awful. I hope to write some more later.

Dark Side-Kelly Clarkson

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
This is probably my favorite Kelly Clarkson song. LOVE the words and the message. I don’t know why but I woke up today in a “mood.” So I decided to throw on some Kelly Clarkson and this song came on!
There’s a place that I know
It’s not pretty there and few have ever gone
If I show it to you now
Will it make you run away
Or will you stay
Even if it hurts
Even if I try to push you out
Will you return?
And remind me who I really am
Please remind me who I really am
Everybody’s got a dark side
Do you love me?
Can you love mine?
Nobody’s a picture perfect
But we’re worth it
You know that we’re worth it
Will you love me?
Even with my dark side?
Like a diamond
From black dust
It’s hard to know
It can become
If you give up
So don’t give up on me
Please remind me who I really am
Everybody’s got a dark side
Do you love me?
Can you love mine?
Nobody’s a picture perfect
But we’re worth it
You know that we’re worth it
Will you love me?
Even with my dark side?
Don’t run away
Don’t run away
Just tell me that you will stay
Promise me you will stay
Don’t run away
Don’t run away
Just promise me you will stay
Promise me you will stay
Will you love me? Ohh
Everybody’s got a dark side
Do you love me?
Can you love mine?
Nobody’s a picture perfect
But we’re worth it
You know that we’re worth it
Will you love me?
Even with my dark side?

When I come across a quote from someone that really speaks to me, I write it down on an index card and either hang it up on my wall or file it in my quotes box that I have.

I thought I’d share some of these quotes with you.

“We don’t have time to waste our days!”  Louie Giglio

Random Thoughts…..

I’m not 100% sure but I think I have a kidney stone. Wanna know the ironic thing? I’ve been drinking less and less of soda lately. Soda is my downfall but after learning I was prediabetic I have seriously cut back on my soda intake.

I used to get kidney stones frequently so I am very familiar with the pain. Currently I have a heating pad on my left side with the hopes of lessening the pain. Heat really helps. Now I just need to chug more water to flush it out!

I’ve been very irritable the past couple of days. Very restless and antsy and just downright emotional. It’s one big rollercoaster of emotions. My psychiatrist has upped my dosage of Abilify to 15mg a day so we’ll see if that helps my moods any. I sure hope so because I hate this feeling.

I finished Goliath Must Fall and it was great! I am now looking for my next book to read. It’s a toss-up between One Way Love by Tullian Tchividjian (grandson of Billy Graham) and Crazy Love by Francis Chan. I’m eventually going to read both but I just can’t decide which one to read first, LOL.  Has anyone read either of these books? What did you think?

Mom is doing well! She got her staples removed on Tuesday! The doctor was very impressed with how she’s doing. She’s well ahead of where she should be. Well that’s no wonder……this wasn’t her first rodeo with knee replacement. This was her 3rd surgery on that left knee! She’s been through this many times before. She knows the drill! LOL

I think I know what I want to write about in my first book. I don’t have much information yet but I want to write about being a bipolar Christian. Doesn’t that sound like an oxymoron? 🙂 I need to do extensive research so it’s going to take some time for this book to come into existence but I am very excited about starting this. It should be very interesting. 🙂

How about you all? How’s your day going?
