Romans 8:18

Verse of the Week: Romans 8:18... one of the most comforting verses in the Bible to me... no matter what I go through in this life on earth, I know that the suffering here cannot begin to compare with the glory of heaven!!! Heaven is coming one day and all suffering will come to an eternal end! And eternal life with my Savior begins!!! Praise God!!!I love this verse and what it says! Yes, we suffer many hardships and painful circumstances but if we remain faithful to God, if we keep our focus on Him, we WILL one day be with Him in glory and guess what?

Our pain will be gone! Our physical pain, our mental pain….it will all be gone! God has promised us this!

Are you suffering right now? Do you feel lost with no direction in sight? Turn to Jesus! He will take care of you!

God loves you and desires for you to come to Him. He won’t force you, however. The decision is yours. I can’t make the decision for you, no one else can. You have to choose to come to Christ on your own.

Are You There?

My youngest nephew is 6 years old. He and I have a close bond. I don’t plan on having children of my own so Tripp is my “baby.”

Whenever he comes by our house, one of the first things he does is come barreling into my room to find me. Then we play or watch basketball (He’s a Tar Heels fan just like his auntie)  and just have a great time together.

Well yesterday when my sister dropped him off with my mom, I wasn’t home. I had ridden somewhere with my aunt and so my car was home so naturally Tripp assumed I was home! Well, he comes inside and starts looking for me and when he realized I wasn’t there he burst into tears. He’s never done something like that before. But he was just looking for his “EE”(my nickname, lol) and I wasn’t there. It really upset him.

It got me to thinking. Do we search diligently for the Lord?

What’s awesome is that the Lord is ALWAYS with us so we don’t have to burst into tears when it seems we can’t find Him. Sometimes it feels like He’s not there but we just need to stop, get quiet and listen to His gentle whisper, “I’m here, my child. Take rest in me.”

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Who Can Satisfy?

See the source imageWhat does it mean to be truly satisfied in Christ?

I’ve been thinking about that today.

Mom and I were talking about how we as human beings are never satisfied in life.  We took the weather for instance. When it’s freezing cold outside, we long for the summertime. And when it’s scorching hot outside we long for winter. There’s no satisfying us.

We always want something bigger and better. Then we get that bigger and better thing and we desire something even greater. It’s a never-ending cycle! When will it ever end? Will it ever end?

I believe it ends when we finally become satisfied in Christ and Christ alone. When we rest in Him we find true satisfaction.

So what does it mean to be truly satisfied in Christ? Well, we will have a sense of peace that surpasses all understanding. We glorify God when we are truly satisfied in Him.

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35)

In your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalm 16:11)

Jesus promises us that if we learn to find our satisfaction in Him, He will take care of us.

One of my favorite songs ever is Who Can Satisfy? I urge you to go listen to this song. I can listen to this song on repeat over and over. It’s a beautiful song!

Who Can Satisfy?

Who can satisfy my soul, like You
Who on earth can comfort me and love me like You do
Who could ever be more faithful and true
I will trust in You, I will trust in You, my God.

There is a Fountain, who is the King
Victorious Warrior, and Lord of everything
My Rock, my Shelter, my very all
Blessed Redeemer, who reigns upon the throne.

Living water, rain down Your life on me
Cleansing me, refreshing me with life abundantly
River, full of life, I’ll go where You lead
I will trust in You, I will trust in You, my God.

A Daily Struggle

See the source imageI suffer from major self-esteem issues. Between my weight and my dental problems I honestly can’t stand the way I look sometimes.

But then I read verses like 1 Samuel 16:7 and it gets me to thinking that I need not worry because God is not looking at my outward appearance as man does but rather the nature of my heart.

I’m slowly working on losing the weight but right now there is not much I can do about my dental problems because I don’t have dental insurance and I’m unemployed due to my health problems. I need dentures in a bad way but it’s going to have to wait. I just need to stop worrying about what people may think about me when they see my teeth. It doesn’t matter, I keep telling myself. It doesn’t matter what people think. I’m beautiful in God’s eyes and that’s all that matters!

But alas, I am human and the negative thoughts tend to come back after a while. So it’s a daily struggle. Satan knows my weaknesses and he does not hesitate to use them against me.

But I take comfort in finding bible verses that help me realize that I’m beautiful in God’s eyes.

Psalm 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Isaiah 43:1 But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.

No More Sorrow, No More Pain

We played this at my aunt leah's funeral and I was in tears the whole song #gonebutnotforgettenI take so much comfort in knowing that one day this body of mine will be brand new! I will no longer suffer from pain, I will no longer be bipolar!

All of the suffering, all of the pain, all of the sorrow… will no longer exist!

People may ridicule me for my faith. They may mock me and try to drag me down.

But one day I get to see my Savior face to face! And all my earthly troubles will be no more!

Are you ready to meet him face to face?

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14

Being Still, Finding Rest

Photo by Ben White on Unsplash
See the source imageSometimes, with the hustle and bustle of life, finding time for God can be very difficult. We’re all busy with this activity and that activity. The stresses of work or school consume us.
But we must find the time to spend with God. We need to make it a priority in our lives.
Psalm 37:7 says “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.
It is in the stillness that we can hear His soft voice whispering to us, calming our anxious thoughts.
We find our rest in Him and Him alone. Psalm 62:1 tells us “truly my soul finds rest in God, my salvation comes from Him.”  Further down in the same Psalm it adds that our “hope comes from Him.
We also are given peace when we spend time with the Lord. Isaiah 26:3 says “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in You.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
We cannot hear the Lord when we are so busy with our lives. We cannot afford to ignore the Lord.
Can you hear his gentle whisper?

Weird, Chapter Three: The Rest is Up To You

See the source image

The biggest reason why many people surrender to the normal overwhelmed, overly driven, unsustainable pace is because we don’t have faith. We don’t honestly believe that God is on His throne, that he can and will handle the details of our lives, that he wants what’s truly best for us, and that his way of doing  life is better.

What a weird way of looking at things…but could this be true?

We’re afraid that if we don’t just run non stop and try everything this world has to offer, we’re going to miss out on something.

See the source imageWe live in an addicted world. It doesn’t matter what it is, there are tons of things in life that people get addicted to. Whether its drugs or alcohol or it’s just an addiction to technology (guilty as charged!), there is always something out there that become addictions for people.  And there’s no such thing as a healthy addiction, despite what some people think. Even when you think you’re doing something good and important, if it takes the place of God, it’s idolatry.  “Idolatry is not just a failure to obey God, it is a setting of the whole heart on something besides God.” (Tim Keller, Counterfeit Gods)

See the source imageBasically, what Groeschel is saying in this chapter is that we always have to be doing something to feel happy, to feel complete. And we “distract ourselves with being productive which makes us look just like everyone else in the world. Our self-worth gets sucked into a riptide of bigger-better-best until we don’t know how to break the cycle.”

This type of behavior is not healthy. It’s sick. It’s destructive. It’s harmful……but it’s normal.

You’re trying to substitute something for God, when He’s the only one who can fulfill you.

We need rest. Simple as that. We need to take the time and just rest. In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus tell us we can come to Him. He will give us rest if we just come to Him. When is the last time you were completely at rest? Experiencing real rest doesn’t mean we become lazy and unproductive. “Jesus was busy but never hurried. He was productive but never overwhelmed. He accomplished everything God wanted Him to and still spent long, refreshing days in fellowship alone with His father.”See the source image

Too many times, we have the tendency to become overwhelmed with all we have going in  our lives. The pressure is on to get things done, to make sure everything is perfect. But why must this be? Why must we go through life so hurried and feel ragged every step of the way?

Take the time to really spend time quality time with God. Let Him speak to you and give you the rest you need. Then you’ll come out with a renewed sense of mind and a sense of peace you’ve never had before. You become fully aware of God’s goodness. The rest will make you more productive! And more importantly, more spiritually healthy!

If you want a normal life, do what normal people do. If you want to know God intimately, walk with Him daily and please him in every way, you’re going to have to do what few do……..absolutely NOTHING.

And that’s weird!

Groeschel tells us to not settle for a normal life. “Not when we can enjoy the wonderful weirdness of being who God created you to be.”

My last blog post was blog entry #100! WordPress notified me of that today. So I went and checked my stats and since I started this blog I have received over 1300 views and have had over 600 visitors! Pretty cool.

My hope is that my blog is bringing glory to God. I don’t want to be blogging for the wrong reasons…..such as getting recognition for achieving blogging milestones.

Image result for jesus loves youI want people to know that there is a God that LOVES them! There is a God that has great plans for His people! If only we would turn to Him.

I’ve met some pretty cool people on WordPress who genuinely love the Lord and strive to live for Him every day! One of my favorite blogs to visit is: A Fractured Faith. Stephen is a really nice guy with a wonderful family. His blogs are so encouraging and lift me up. I encourage you to check out his blog. 🙂

I’m so glad I decided to start blogging again. I’ve actually had this site for many years but never really posted much. It wasn’t until I got serious about my faith that I got back into blogging and then I realized it was a great platform to share my faith. AND to meet new people who share my love of God. It’s pretty cool!

See the source imageIn the end, I want this blog to reach as many people as possible who may not know the Lord. And I want people to know that I am NOT ashamed of the Lord and I am PROUD to be a Christian. 🙂

Verse of the day: Romans 1:16

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes….”

Our Battles…..

I know it can be frustrating when life seems to hand us trial after trial. Just when we come through one trial, another one seems to be on its tail.  But if we remain faithful to God, if we give all our cares to Him, He WILL take care of us! We only need to “be still.” Being still can be hard, I know. But just give it to God. Nothing is impossible for Him. 🙂
