Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”
Matthew 14:28-31
“Yes, come,” Jesus said.
So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong14:30 Some manuscripts do not include strong. wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.
Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”
Doubt. Everyone struggles with it at one time or another. It’s human nature to want to question life and its many, many ups and downs.
Doubting is, unfortunately, always going to exist as long as we live on this earth. Satan wants no more than to confuse us and make us question God and ultimately, our faith. I know that I’ve doubted my salvation from time to time and each time realize that Satan is planting those seeds of doubt.
We take our eyes off Christ during these periods of doubt. Like Peter who asked Jesus in Matthew 14 to allow him to climb out of the boat and walk on water. The second he looked away, the second he took his eyes off Jesus, he began to sink. And that’s what happens to us. We take our eyes off Him and we begin to sink. As the water, or doubt, begins to flood us we begin to panic.
As Jesus tells Peter, “oh you of little faith…why did you doubt me?”
When life’s challenges begin to flood your soul…place your eyes back on the One who can save you from drowning.
Amen! If we look to Him we’d never fall.
Blessings to you my friend,
