Hey y’all!
So I have always loved to write. Ever since the 4th grade when we were asked to write about what we wanted to be when we grew up and it was then that I just fell in love with writing.
But here I am, years and years later, with nothing to show for myself. And it’s my fault, I know this. I let myself fall out of love with writing. For years I didn’t write a single thing.
But last year, the Lord prompted me to start writing again. And so I decided to wipe the “dust” from my old WordPress site and revamp it.
But y’all….I’m struggling again. And I think it’s because I’m trying too hard. My mind is blank. Writer’s block has struck again. 😦
I want so badly to fall in love with writing again.
Do any of my fellow writers out there have any tips for me?
It’s important to write something. Just like you did today. For me, writing out my prayers keeps me faithfully writing.

I have always loved writing, as well, in all different forms! Whether it’s an assignment for school, a prayer, a blog post, a short story – if I can be writing, I am extremely happy. Even when it’s composing a blog comment like this! 🙂 That’s so cool that you revamped you blog, I hope you keep up with it. I think the key to continue writing, whatever that may be, is to stay inspired. Talking to other writers, seeing what others have written, and looking for inspiration in all sorts of places (Pinterest, stock photo websites, etc) has always helped me! ❤ Best of luck to you, fellow writer!

My advice is: Pray! Ask God to fan into flame the ability to write He has given you. I will be praying for you as well.

Pray and the Lord will flood your mind with thoughts! I also notice that, if I feel inspired, it is best to jot notes down right at that moment. Blessings! I hope you are feeling inspired!

I’m just going to try and not put too much pressure on myself to write. I am going to start keeping a notebook with me at all times so I can write things down as they pop on my head. 🙂

I love your honesty and transparency, Leigh and for me that’s what writing should be about.
We all have days when we get a bit of writers block but never forget this,
‘We have been created by the Creator to create for Him’.
Lol! I know that sounds a mouthful but when we do everything for God alone, He will inspire us and fill us with His words.
Pray before you begin and place your blog back into His hands.
Hope this helps!

Hi
I know it may seem silly but don’t put so much pressure on yourself, take some deep breaths and relax, then it will come to you. Maybe start off just writing in bullet point sir brainstorming

I probably am putting too much pressure on myself. I have a bad habit of doing that. Thanks for commenting!

Writer’s block is usually tied in some way to stress or pressure to write. When your brain gets under stress, this shuts down the creative juices, so to speak. The best thing to do is to take your mind off of the pressure to write. Journaling off-line is a good way to activate your creativity. So is going for a walk, a drive, or even spending some quiet time in deep thought. These are just some ideas that have helped me.

Thank you! Those are some good ideas! I will definitely try them. I never thought that writer’s block could be tied in some way to stress. It makes sense though!

Write about what’s in your heart! Whatever you love, you can talk about ALL day long!…I love God, He’s in my heart and I can talk about Him all day long!

And if you find there’s something in your heart or something taking up your thoughts that shouldn’t be, thats a good time to reposition your heart and mind toward the right things!

I frequently write based off my morning devotions or conversations with people will bring up a question or topic to write about. One day I seem to have plenty of topics while I have less on other days. If I think of something to write but don’t have time, I make a quick note for later. You do fine and many enjoy your post, keep moving forward!

(Loving all the suggestions that you are getting – they are inspiring me too. ❤) One thing that helps me is to read. Not just blogs, books, and devotionals, but the Bible. Immersing myself in His Word always makes words pour out of me. 🙂
Also, music sometimes helps me. I remember once I wrote a whole blog post based on one song. 🎵
I hope that your writer’s block comes to an end soon!

It isnt lack of motivation, we just have so many ideas flowing through our brain! Make lists and take notes. Eventually you will hit on a passionate subject and off you go!
